Beetroot, Blackberry and Yoghurt Smoothie

Beetroot is highly nutritious but has quite an earthy flavour that some people might find a bit challenging. Here, it slips down the throat with ease once combined with some luscious blackberries and smooth yoghurt. In lieu of blackberries, equal quantities of just about any other berry would do nicely also.


10 blackberries
1 beetroot, peeled, and cut into small chunks 2 cups ice
1 cup Greek yoghurt
Agave nectar or maple syrup to taste


  • Place the blackberries and beetroot in a blender and liquefy. Then, add in the ice and yoghurt and blend again.
  • Taste it. Add the agave nectar (or maple syrup) if you want it a bit sweeter. Serve in a tall glass.
Other Notes:

This recipe should be served very cold.
