Gentle Yoga helps strengthen the immune system and softens some of the effects of cancer treatment. It also helps to enhance emotional and psychological wellbeing by releasing tension, anxiety, and creating “space” – physically and emotionally.
Come join us for an hour of gentle yin and hatha yoga. Learn simple poses and breathing exercises that you can do at home to help with your recovery. Some slow and gentle vinyasa flow may also be included as an option for some of us.
Attire: Please bring a Yoga Mat and dress comfortably in clothing that allows freedom of movement.
(Do note that the session will be conducted in English only)
Instructor Bio
Paul, a Cloud IT specialist hailing from Australia, started practicing yoga 10 years ago as an experiment to improve/manage his lower back pain. He was 49 years old then (goes to show that it is never too late to start!). He started with an open mind, a “no judgement, no questioning for one year” mindset. Six months in, and with regular practice, he noticed reduced pain in his lower back, better sleep, and an improved general sense of self.
His move to Singapore 8 years ago provided opportunity to deepen his practice. Inspired by his desire to share with others the benefits of yoga which he had himself experienced, he undertook a yoga instructor training program, thus transitioning from a student of yoga into a Yoga Alliance certified instructor.
His efforts were rewarded with positive feedback from students who practiced regularly (hint hint!), on how yoga improved their various ailments and general outlook on life. With consistent practice, you too can reap the potential benefits of Yoga, including improved flexibility, strength, body awareness, and relieve stress and anxiety.
